You'll be provided with a series of aligners. Each aligner will make small adjustments to your tooth position. When the aligners are placed on to your teeth, they cause them to gradually move from their current position to improved positions. Each set of aligners are worn for 2 weeks at a time, as your teeth are moved gradually into their new and position. To ensure your treatment progresses on schedule, the aligners need to be worn for 22 hours each day and only removed for eating and cleaning.
Normally it takes 9-18 months, with regular visits to the orthodontist once every 6-8 weeks so he or she can monitor the success of your treatment.
Invisalign is a more comfortable and less intrusive way to straighten your teeth. Unlike traditional metal braces with brackets and wires, Invisalign is very discreet and virtually invisible. Patients are more confident when they smile and can socialise as normal without feeling self-conscious.
You take Invisalign aligners out for easy cleaning, brushing and flossing. The aligners shouldn't be worn for eating, so you don't have to avoid certain foods either.
Traditional braces also require many visits to the dentist for adjustment. Invisalign works effectively to keep the right amount of pressure on the teeth without the need for tightening. Consequently you don’t have to visit your dentist quite so often.
